New Testimonial

Thanks to The VENUS Project for this great testimonial.

Imagine a network of seafloor laboratories that monitor live ocean conditions – that’s what VENUS is.  Avocet3D was able to capture the concept in a detailed graphic and deliver a great product on time and on budget; not to mention that Dennett is a pleasure to work with.

Cebas Visual Technologies has installed a beta version of Final Render for Maya Stage 2 Beta on our master workstation for us to try out and report on. Having a large market share on 3D Max machines, Cebas is making inroads in to Maya users. We are very excited about this and can’t wait to try it out.  http://cebas.com/

Starting a new project

Last Wednesday we started in on a visualization project for the next yacht in the “Big Fish” line. We will be producing a series of exterior and interior static renders as well as a 2 minute animation. It is expected to last 2 months.

“Skyline”

From Universal Pictures.
Universal Pictures has debuted the trailer for Greg and Colin Strause’s Skyline, hitting theaters on November 12. In the sci-fi thriller, strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the earth. Skyline stars Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, Scottie Thompson and Brittany Daniel.

30 foot Catamaran design and visualization

I’ve has just entered into an agreement with a private customer to design and visualize a 30 ft (9.2 m) aluminum catamaran. The yacht will be specifically designed for the punishing west coast of Canada waters where ocean debris and large waves are common place. The owner is a fishing fanatic and diver so special consideration will be taken to insure his needs are met. Having had many years experience in the yacht design industry it is nice to once again dive into this kind of work. For progress news stay tuned!

Motion Tracking

Avocet 3D has just added “SynthEyes” to the list of available tools. SynthEyes is a motion tracking application that allows one to synchronize real footage with computer generated animation.

Improved Rendering Tools

Avocet 3D is continuing to improve the tools for rendering fine works. With the addition of Maxwell renderer we now have the latest Mental Ray technology as well. We have also acquired Vue 8.5 for creating CG environments. To further improve our rendering ability our main computer was upgraded to quad core Zeon processors and the highest grade of nVidia Quadro video card technology giving us superior speed in both rendering and work flow.

The furure is here.

Tan Le’s astonishing new computer interface reads its user’s brainwaves, making it possible to control virtual objects, and even physical electronics, with mere thoughts (and a little concentration). She demos the headset, and talks about its far-reaching applications.
